Paramsetty Suryakantham is a 70 year old widow living in the village Kondayyapalem. Her husband passed away 6 years back. She has 1 son who is married and living with his family. She works as a daily laborer earning $2 a day whenever she finds work. Until recently, Suryakantham was able to successfully manage the household chores and work for wages. But her vision began to drop gradually, making it virtually impossible to carry on independently. Suryakantham was depressed.
After an eye exam, it was discovered that Suryakantham developed cataracts in both eyes, which were then operated upon by Sankurathri Foundation. However, even after the surgery, she found that she needed corrective glasses in order to see well. Suryakantham, however, had no money to pay for the glasses, and thought she would continue without glasses.
Your donation, Charlotte, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide a free pair of glasses to Suryakantham. She can now perform her household chores and earn her wages without depending on anyone.
Thank you, Charoltte, for enabling Suryakantham live in dignity in her old age.
