Ashok can perform better in school!

Eight year old Ashok is studying in grade 2 at Sarada Vidyalayam. His father, Krishna, is a house painter by profession, who works on either daily wages or short term painting contracts. They live in a joint family, which includes Ashok’s grandmother and two uncles, in the village of Penumarthi in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Depending on the work he finds, Ashok’s father earns up to $100 per month, which is not sufficient to meet the needs of the extended family. Like most children in rural areas, Ashok was also malnourished and survived for days on end on an empty stomach.

Your generous donations, Sarah, Maria Jose, Laurent M., Laurent D., Gary, Jerame (x2), Mark and Lisbet, Leo (x2), Rick and Beth and Tom, have made it possible for Sankurathri Foundation to provide a nutritious lunch comprising of rice, lentils, leafy vegetables and clarified butter to Ashok. He will also be given a glass of milk in the afternoon. With these two food supplements Ashok will become healthy and active. He will also be able to perform well in his studies.
