Appa Rao has reason to smile!

Dear Laurent,

Seventy year old Appa Rao lives with his wife in a village of Panasapadu, in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

He has four children – two sons and two daughters, all of whom are married and live separately with their families. Appa Rao is too old to work and the couple occasionally visit their children and  stay with them every few months.

Since the last one year, Appa Rao’s  vision had diminished considerably but not one of his children volunteered to take him to an eye hospital. During a village outrech camp organized by Sankurathri Foundation, Appa Rao decided to get his eyes examined.

After a complete eye-examination, it was found that he had developed cataract in both his eyes and was almost blind. He was asked to undergo surgery to correct his vision. But none of the children volunteered to get their father operated as they knew it had costs involved. With no source of income, Appa Rao had no money of his own to afford surgery.

Thanks to your generous donation, Laurent, Sankurathri Foundation was able to bear the cost of Appa Rao’s cataract surgery. Post-surgery, he can now see clearly and is very happy that he did not have to plead to hos children for money.  Your donation also covered the cost of two post-operative visits to the doctor and the cost incurred for transportation.

Thank you so much, Laurent for your timely help and support. You are instrumental in restoring his dignity and self confidence.
