Fifty-eight year old Simhachalam, lives with his wife in the village of Pithapuram, in coastal Andhra Pradesh.
Together, they run a small tea-shop to earn a living and barely manage to earn about $2-3, after a full day’s work. They managed their basic needs with this meager sum and had no savings to fall back on, in case of an emergency.
For the last three months, Simhachalam noticed that his vision was diminishing and he could not even differentiate between one and two rupee coins. They slowly started earning even lesser than usual and he could do nothing to revive his business. He knew if he stopped working, there would be much strain on his wife and he decided to get his eyes examined.
At the same time, Sankurathri Foundation was organizing a free eye-camp, in his village and he made the most of it and went for a complete eye check-up. It was here that he was diagnosed with a problem of refractive error and was advised to buy glasses for better vision. He confessed that he did not have much money left to buy a pair of glasses.
Your generous donation, Laurent, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide him a pair of glasses with which he can now see clearly.
He is very excited and is keen on reviving his business. Your support, Laurent, comes as a big relief to Simhachalam and he can’t thank you enough for this gesture!
