Sixty-five year old, Rajamma, hails from the village of Biccavolu, in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She has three children but no one to look after her, in her old-age. So she stays alone and makes a living by begging. On a lucky day, she earns $1 a day and she some how manages to live like that.
In an eye screening camp, organized by Sankurathri Foundation in her village, she was identified as having developed a cataract and was already operated. But she needed corrective glasses for her to be able to see clearly. When she was told about the price of the glasses, she said that she has no money as she earns only by begging. Based on her economic condition, Sankurathri Foundation provided her a pair of glasses.
Your generous donation, Elizabeth, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to bear the cost of her glasses. Thanks to that, she can now see clearly and is very grateful to you for your support.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for making a big difference in Rajamma’s life.
