Dhana Lakshmi can see better now

Sixty-five year old, Dhana Lakshmi lives with her husband in the village of Modekurru, in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Her husband works as a farm laborer and earns up to $80, in a lucky month. That hardly suffices to meet their basic needs and medical expenses.

Though Dhana Lakshmi does not work and earn, she manages the entire household and keeps herself busy. But lately, she had noticed that her vision had become extremely blurry and she was finding it difficult to do any work.

Her husband escorted her to the nearby clinic run by Sankurathri Foundation and after a complete eye-examination, it was found that she needed corrective glasses to see clearly. With no income of her own, Dhana Lakshmi could not afford to buy one and knew her husband had no savings either.
