Janakamma can see better!

Yandamuri Janakamma, F, 50y
Dear Susan,

Sixty year old, Janakamma, hails from the village of Vemulavada, in coastal Andhra Pradesh.

She is a widow and lives with her younger son and his family, since her health is not too good. She has three children and the son with whom she lives works as a carpenter on daily wages and earns only on the days that he finds work.  In a lucky month, he earns up to $90, which can only meet their most basic needs. Janakamma, herself does not work anymore because of her failing health.

Janakamma however, helped with small household chores like buying and cleaning groceries etc., just so she stays busy and is also of help around the house. But lately, she had noticed that her vision had become extremely blurry and she was finding it difficult to do any work.

Her son escorted her to the nearby clinic run by Sankurathri Foundation and after a complete eye-examination, it was found that she needed corrective glasses to see clearly. With no income of her own, Janakamma could not afford to buy one and knew her son would not be able to, either.

Your generous donation, Susan, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide her a pair of glasses with which she can see clearly now and is very happy.

Thank you so much, for this gift!
