Sixty-five year old Satyavathi hails from the village of Pedapudi, in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Her husband passed away two years ago and ever since she has been living alone here.
She has three daughters who are married and settled. But she doesn’t like to live with any of them and decided to live alone. She works as a housemaid to support her own needs and earns about $50 a month, which is just enough to meet her most basic needs.
Since the last six months, she noticed that her vision was diminishing slowly and she was worried. One of her neighbor suggested that she should go to free eye screening camp organised in her village. In the camp she was advised to wear corrective spectacles to improve her vision. As she didn’t have enough money, she said she could not buy one.
Your generous donation, Jennifer, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide Satyavathi a pair of glasses with which she can see very clearly.
Thank you so much, for this gift!
