Sixty-five year old, Booramma hails from the village of Biccavolu, in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She lives alone and works as a farm laborer earning up to $60 a month, to support her basic needs.
Although she has three daughters, she lives separately from them as she does not want to depend on her children. She takes pride in her independence and wants to continue living like that, for as long as possible.
But when Booramma suddenly realized that her vision was diminishing, she became very depressed as she couldn’t go to work. At that time, Sankurathri foundation was organizing a free eye camp in her village, where she had a complete eye checkup done and was advised to wear corrective glasses. With no savings of her own, she could not afford to buy one.
Your generous donation, Susan, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide her a pair of glasses with which she can see clearly now and is very happy.
Thank you, Susan, for your kindness. With your help, Booramma can look after herself now.
