Fifty year old, Kantham, hails from the village of Mamidada, in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She has three children – two sons and one daughter. Her husband works as a carpenter and earns $50 a month. This does not suffice to meet their medical expenses.
Their sons abandoned them and refused to help them in any way because of which they are now living with their daughter and her family.
Kantham and her husband are thus, dependent on their daughter. Kantham helps her daughter in domestic work and cooking but was unable to do so since the last six months. She was depressed as she noticed defective vision in both her eyes and could not do her own work at home. She also had no money for a medical checkup. At that time, Sankurathri foundation was organizing a free eye camp in her village, where she had a complete eye checkup done and was advised glasses for better vision. With no income or savings of her own, she could not afford to buy one.
Your generous donation, Michelle, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide her a pair of glasses with which she can see clearly now and is very happy.
Thank you, Michelle, for your kindness. With your help, Kantham can look after herself now.
