Sixty-three year old, Suramma, hails from the village of Biccavolu, in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She is a widow and lives with her son, who works as a kitchen helper in a small hotel, in the village. He makes about $ 80 per month, with which he has to support not just Suramma but also his wife and two small children.
Since the last few months, Suramma was depressed as she noticed defective vision in both her eyes and she could not do her own work at home. She also had no money for a medical checkup. At that time, Sankurathri foundation was organizing a free eye camp in her village, where she had a complete eye checkup done and was advised glasses for better vision. With no income or savings of her own, she could not afford to buy one and kinew it would be difficult for her son, too.
Your generous donation, Jennifer, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide her a pair of glasses with which she can see clearly now and is very happy.
Thank you, Jennifer, for your kindness. With your help, Suramma can look after herself now.
