Even after losing his father, Akhil continues going to school

Ten year old, Akhil, is the youngest of three children. His father, Raju, was killed in a road accident, ever since, his mother struggles to bring up her children, single handedly.

Akhil’s mother works as a housemaid and barely earns enough to meet their most basic needs. She can’t afford to pay for the school fee or any other additional expenses of her children. Sankurathri Foundation provides free education to Akhil and he is currently studying in the fourth grade at Sarada Vidyalayam, a school run by Sankurathi.

Under such circumstances education is never a priority for parents who believe that by sending the child to work, he can make some money to supplement the family income.

Thus there are many children in the rural areas who are drop outs of education because of their parents’ economic conditions. Sarada Vidyalayam is helping such children to complete their education without any financial burden to their parents.

The school maintains a very strict curriculum and provides quality education and imparts good discipline and values to groom them as good citizens.
