Bathula Nookalamma is a 65 year old widow from Kandakuduru village in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She has 3 sons who are married and living with their families and one daughter who died in a road accident. She lives alone, and survives on the $ 2 per day that she earns when she finds work. Till last year, she was able to manage her own chores at home. But slowly her vision has dropped, making her dependent on other people even for basic things.
