Ballamma is happy again

Natata, Ballamma, 57
Dear Sarah,

Natata Ballamma is a 57 year old lady who lives with her husband and her daughter in the village of Viravada in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Her husband works as a farm laborer and he earns about $3 a day. Ballamma developed cataracts in both eyes, and made it nearly impossible for her to manage her own needs. She found herself becoming dependent on her husband and daughter, and was depressed because she could not perform her normal chores.

Ballamma’s cataracts were discovered during an eye camp conducted by Sankurathri Foundation in her village. Since her financial condition does not permit Ballamma to get her eyes operated upon, your donation, Sarah, was used to fund an intraocular cataract surgery for her. In addition to the cost of the surgery and the post operative medicines, your donation also paid for transportation to and from the hospital, food and accommodation, and will pay for two post operative check ups.

Thank you Sarah for your help. Ballamma now perform her own chores, and is happy again.
