Umamaheswari will now get a good education

Koppisetti Umamaheswari is the second child of a Agricultural labor from village Penumarthy. Her father, Satyanarayana is a daily laborer and earns $ 4 a day when he find the work. With that money he has to support a family of four people including his two children, which is barely enough to meet their basic necessities.

Families such as Umamaheswari’s do not believe in education, much less education for the girl child, so a girl like her would normally not have been going to school at all. Umamaheswari is, however, enrolled in Grade 2 at Sarada Vidyalayam, the school run by Sankurathri Foundation.
