Peddamma no longer worries about becoming destitute

Koyyena Peddamma is a 75 year old widow who lives in the village of Kondayyapalem in Andhra Pradesh. Her husband, Veeraraju, died six years ago, and though she has two daughters, both are living with their own families, and Pedamma has to work as a daily laborer to make both ends meet. Since she is used to managing on a small income, the $ 2 a day that she makes is sufficient to meet her basic needs, but when her eyesight started going down, she knew she would not be able to afford corrective glasses.
