Sixty Five years old Madaka Gangaraju is a resident of Samalkot in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She lives with her husband, Chinnaraju, who is as a farm laborer. Her husband earns $ 3 a day when he has work, and she has 2 daughters and 3 sons who are married and living with their families.
Gangaraju developed cataracts in both eyes, which were operated upon by Sankurathri Foundation. However, even after the surgery, she found that she needed corrective glasses in order to see well. She, however, had no money to pay for the glasses, and though she would continue without glasses.
Thank you, Peter, for donating a pair of corrective glasses to Gangaraju. She can now see well again, and will not have to be dependent on others for her daily chores.
