Sirisha can now be healthy and happy

Bathina Sirisha, 14, 8th
Dear Peter, Michael, Sally, and Archana,

Fourteen year old Bathina Sirisha lives in the village of Kothuru in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Her father, Venkatarao, works as a daily laborer and earns about $ 4 a day, which is not enough to meet the needs of the family. Sirisha is studying in grade 8 at Sarada Vidyalayam. Her younger brother studies in grade 6 in the same school.

Sirisha eats very poor quality food at home, both because the family cannot afford better food-stuff, and because of their ignorance of what constitutes a balanced diet. For this reason, she is undernourished, which makes her prone to frequent infections resulting in absenteeism from school. Even when she does go to school, she is often not able to concentrate on her studies.

Your donations, Peter, Michael, Sally (x2) and Archana (x8) will enable Sankurathri Foundation to provide Sirisha with a nutritious lunch comprised of lentils, green leafy vegetables, rice and clarified butter for an entire year. The food is cooked using salt fortified with Iodine and Iron to improve their general health, and the lunch will be supplemented with a glass of milk in the afternoon.

Thank you all for helping Sirisha to remain healthy, and to do well in school.
