Mummidi Bhaskaramma is a 58 year old lady who lives with her husband in the village of Pithapuram in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Bhaskaramma has three sons and one daughter. Her husband is a farm laborer who earns about 60 $ a month, barely enough to make ends meet.
Bhaskaramma developed cataracts in both eyes, and made it nearly impossible for her to manage her own needs. She could not perform her normal chores and was depressed because she felt she was becoming an unnecessary burden upon her husband.
Bhaskaramma’s cataracts were discovered during an eye camp conducted by Sankurathri Foundation in her village. Since her financial condition does not permit Bhaskaramma to get her eyes operated upon, your donation, was used to fund an intraocular cataract
surgery for her. In addition to the cost of the surgery and the post operative
medicines, your donation, Kandace, also paid for transportation to and from the hospital,
food and accommodation, and will pay for two post operative check-ups.
Bhaskaramma can now perform her household chores without depending on others. Thank you, Kandace, for bringing the smile back on Bhaskaramma’s face.
