Abhilam is healthy and happy

Six year old Guthurthi Abhilam is studying in Grade 1 at Sarada Vidyalayam, the free school run by Sankurathri Foundation in rural Andhra Pradesh. He lives with his family of four members.  The father, Satyanarayana, is a mason and earns about $ 40 per month when he can find the work. His earnings are barely enough to make ends meet.

Under such circumstances education is never a priority for them and if they send the child to work he can make some money to supplement the family income. In this manner many boys and girls in the rural areas are becoming child laborers and supporting their families.

Abhilam is undernourished because his parents cannot afford to give him a balanced diet at home. Due to this, he finds it difficult to concentrate in class, and often has to miss school because of falling prey to illnesses. With your support, Corey, the Sankurathri Foundation will provide a wholesome and nutritious lunch to Abhilam every day. The food would be cooked with iodized salt, and will give him sufficient nutrients for the entire day. He will also get a glass of milk in the evening.
