Eighty year old Lanku Venkayamma, hails from the village of Samalkot, in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She is a widow who lost her husband 20 years ago. She has 3 daughters and 3 sons who are married and living with their families. Although she has six children, none of them take care of her or even pay for her needs. She lives alone in a hut. She barely makes her living with help from her neighbors.
Venkayamma kept herself busy with the household chores. But when she suddenly realized that her vision was diminishing, she became very depressed. At that time, Sankurathri foundation was organizing a free eye camp in her village, where she had a complete eye checkup done and was advised to wear corrective glasses. With no income or savings of her own, Venkayamma could not afford to buy one.
Your generous donation, Whitney, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide Venkayamma a pair of glasses with which she can see clearly now and is very happy.
Thank you, Whitney, for your kindness. With your help, Venkayamma can do her household chores.
