Chakram can see better and stay independent

Seventy year old Malireddy Chakram lives in the village of V.K.Rayapuram in coastal Andhra Pradesh. He is an unemployed widower with four sons; he lives alone and rarely even visits them. Chakram works odd jobs to support himself, earning 2$ a day whenever he finds work.

Since last year he has not been able to work well, because of his deteriorating vision.

When his neighbors told Chakram about the free eye camp at Sankurathri Foundation he attended it to get his eyes examined. After the examination he was told that he needed glasses to improve his vision, but he could not afford them due to his poverty.
