Poosamma enjoys restored eye sight

Naidani Poosamma
Dear Harriett,

Naidani Poosamma is a 65 year old lady who lives with her husband, Krishna, an agricultural laborer, in the village of Kondayyapalem in coastal Andhra Pradesh. The monthly income is barely sufficient to make ends meet.

Poosamma began to suffer from blurred vision in both eyes, which made it nearly impossible for her to manage her own needs. She found herself becoming increasingly dependent on her husband, and was depressed because she could not perform her normal chores.

Poosamma was diagnosed with cataract in both eyes and recommended surgery, during an eye camp conducted by Sankurathri Foundation, in her village. However, her financial condition did not permit her to be able to afford the surgery.

Your donation, Harriett, was used to fund an intraocular cataract surgery for Poosamma. In addition to the cost of the surgery and the post operative medicines, your donation also paid for transportation to and from the hospital, food and accommodation, and will pay for two post operative check-ups.

Thank you, Harriett, for enabling Poosamma to perform her household chores without depending on others.
