Subbalakshmi can see a future free from fear

Marina Subbalakshmi
Dear Gwynne,

Marina Subbalakshmi is a 60 year old widow who lives with her married daughter
and her family in the village of Vetlapalem in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Subbalakshmi’s husband Venkataraju succumbed to an illness 5 years ago.

Subbalakshmi began to suffer from blurred vision in both eyes, which made it nearly impossible for her to manage her own needs. She found herself becoming increasingly dependent on her daughter, and was depressed because she could not perform her normal chores.

Subbalakshmi was diagnosed with cataract in both eyes and recommended surgery, during an eye camp conducted by Sankurathri Foundation, in her village. However, her financial condition did not permit her to be able to afford the surgery.

Your donation, Gwynne, was used to fund an intraocular cataract surgery for her. In addition to the cost of the surgery and the post operative medicines, your donation also paid for
transportation to and from the hospital, food and accommodation, and will pay
for two post operative check-ups.

Thank you, Gwynne, for enabling Subbalakshmi to perform her household chores without depending on others.
