Sixty six year old Koraturi Kanthamma is a widow who, ever since her husband’s demise 3 years ago, has been living with her youngest daughter. Although, in Indian society, the parents avoid living with the daughter’s families, Kanthamma had no choice as all her three children are daughters. They live in the village of Samalkot in Andhra Pradesh.
Kanthamma helps with the household chores and childcare. Kanthamma’s deteriorating eye sight worried her as she could not work properly. At the same time, she did not want to increase the financial burden on her daughter. During an eye camp, it was diagnosed that she needed corrective glasses to see properly. Being poor, she could not afford them.
Your donation, Joel, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide a free pair of glasses to Kanthamma. Thank you for your generosity.
