Somamma’s life has changed because of your donation

Seventy year old Kavicharla Somamma is a resident of Routhulapudi in Andhra Pradesh. Her husband died ten years ago but she has no financial support. The couple had five children but three sons passed away. Neither of her surviving children (a son and a daughter) are willing to take care of her, so Somamma has a small cottage industry which she manages from her own home. She prepares disposable, bio-degradable plates made of leaves that people use for eating food. She makes a profit of about $ 20 per month, which is sufficient for her frugal needs.

Over the last year, however, her vision has been going down, and it was found that she needed corrective glasses. Your donation made it possible for Sankurathri Foundation to provide a pair of free glasses to her. She is now happy because she can continue working and maintaining her dignity.
