Seventy five year old Chelluri Satyavathi lives in the village of Pithapuram in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Her husband, Venkatanadham, died 2 years ago due to some health problem, and since then she has been working as a daily laborer to make ends meet. On a good day, she earns $ 3, which is sufficient to meet her basic needs. She has one son who has married and living with his wife and children, but Satyavathi does not live with them.
Over the last few months, Satyavathi noticed that her vision was going down. This was proving to be a big problem, because she was not always able to find work. Your donation, Ravi, made it possible for Sankurathri Foundation to provide her with a pair of glasses. Now she can remain self-sufficient, and not have to depend on her son to provide for her.

Sixty year old Appayamma is a widow living in the village of Kondevaram. She has three daughters and one son. Appayamma lives with her son. She is helpless and works as a daily laborer to make her living. On days when she finds work, she earns about $ 2 a day. For the last few months she has been depressed as she noticed defective vision in her both eyes and could not go to work. She also has no money for medical checkup. At that time she came to know about Sankurathri foundation, where she had a complete eye checkup done and was advised glasses.

Bathula Nookalamma is a 65 year old widow from Kandakuduru village in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She has 3 sons who are married and living with their families and one daughter who died in a road accident. She lives alone, and survives on the $ 2 per day that she earns when she finds work. Till last year, she was able to manage her own chores at home. But slowly her vision has dropped, making her dependent on other people even for basic things.
Though she needed corrective glasses, she could not afford them because of her economic situation. Your donation, Matthew, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide her with a pair of glasses. Thank you, Matthew, for helping Nookalamma can see better.

For the last few months, she has been depressed because she her vision has been going down in both eyes, because of which she could not manage her chores at home.

Tarala Bhavani is a sixty year old widow from Navakondavaram in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She has three sons and one daughter, and lives with her sons and their families. Up to last year she was able to manage her own chores at home and also help her daughter-in-laws with domestic work. But slowly her vision has dropped since last one year and she found it difficult to manage at home and she felt very depressed.
She attended a free eye screening camp conducted by the Sankurathri Foundation in Pithapuram and after a thorough eye examination it was found that she needed corrective glasses for her to be able to see well. Since she is not an earning member of the family, she said that she would not be able to purchase a pair of glasses. Your donation, Bela, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide a pair of glasses to Bhavani.

Eight year old Raju is the second child of an electrician in Penumarthi Village. Raju’s father supports his wife and three children on a salary of $100 a month. Families like Raju’s don’t place much importance on education. Boys and girls are sent to work in order to supplement the family income, and they end up as child laborers. Sarada Vidyalayam is a school that provides free education to such children.
Raju is now studying in Grade 3 at Sarada Vidyalayam. He is benefitted by the strict curriculum, and the high quality of education. The school also teaches the students discipline, and moral values in order to groom them to be good citizens of the society.
Your donation of two sets of school uniforms, Mark and Lisbeth, will ensure that Raju will come to school with pride for the next academic year. Thank you, Mark and Lisbeth, for creating a bright future for Raju by enabling him to go to school.

Sixty years old Gortha Mahalakshmi is a resident of Arthapuram in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She is living with her husband Veeraraju who is working as a farm laborer. Her husband earns $ 3 a day when he has work. She has 2 daughters who are both married and living with their families.
Mahalakshmi has developed cataracts in both eyes and though she could not afford the operation, Sankurathri Foundation performed the surgery on her. Following the operation, she still needed corrective glasses, and your generosity, Katherine, made it possible for Sankurathri Foundation to provide her with a pair.

Fifty-five year old Randi Pyditalli is a widow living with her son’s family in the village of Mangiturthi in coastal Andhra Pradesh. Her husband died 3 years ago due to some post operative complications. Ever since the time Pyditalli has been dependent on her son who is a mason in the village. As there is no work in the village he commutes to nearby place look for work. His daily wages are $ 4 when he is able to find work, which is not very often.
Pyditalli’s vision has been going down for a long time, but she hesitated visiting an optician, because she could not afford to buy new glasses. Your donation, Pradeep, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide a pair of glasses for Pyditalli. Thank you, for enabling her to see better.
