Akhil looks neat in his new uniform!
posted April 20, 2011

Ten year old, Akhil, is the youngest of three children. His father, Raju, was killed in a road accident, ever since, his mother struggles to bring up her children, single handedly.
Akhil’s mother works as a housemaid and barely earns enough to meet their most basic needs. She can’t afford to pay for the school fee or any other additional expenses of her children. Sankurathri Foundation provides free education to Akhil and he is currently studying in the 4th grade at Sarada Vidyalayam, a school run by Sankurathi.
Under such difficult circumstances, education is never a priority for parents and they believe that sending a child to school will at least ensure a supplementary income.
Thus there are many children in the rural areas who drop out of school and work to support their needs. Sarada Vidyalayam, helps children to complete their education without any financial burden to their parents.
The school maintains a very strict curriculum and provides quality education. By imparting discipline and values, they groom children to become responsible citizens.
Your generous donation, Laurent will enable Sankurathri Foundation to provide him a set of two uniforms, so that he can attend school in clean uniforms.
Thank you, Laurent, for this gift!
