Appa Rao can see again and be independent!

Dear Balamurugan,

Sixty-eight year old, Appa Rao hails from the village of V.K.Rayapuram, where he lives with his wife, Radhamma. He has three children, all of whom are  married and living on their own.

Appa Rao works as a daily wage laborer and earns $ 3 per day which is insufficient, to meet their needs. Lately, he had noticed that he was not able to work much because of his diminishing vision. He couldn’t see clearly and people refused to give him work. He realized this would deplete the minimal savings that they had and he was very upset about asking his children for help.

He knew he should get his eyes checked but could not afford consultation fees and worried that they might become a burden on their children. At the time, Sankurathri Foundation was conducting a free eye-screening camp for the villagers of V.K.Rayapuram and Appa Rao decided to make the most of this opportunity. He went for an eye-examination and he was found to have developed a cataract problem in both his eyes. His worst fears came true when he was advised to undergo Cataract surgery. Appa Rao, very honestly confided in the doctors that he cannot afford treatment and surgery and that there was nothing he could do.

Understanding his plight, Sankurathri Foundation decided to bear the cost of his treatment and surgery which was only possible, because of your generous donation, Balamurugan.

Your donation also covered the transportation costs incurred in getting Appa Rao to the hospital and also for two post-operative visits. Post surgery, Appa Rao is very  happy that he can see better and  can look after his wife, again.

Thank you so much, Balamurugan, for restoring Appa Rao’s vision and helping him get back to his old life, without depending on his children! Your support is much appreciated.
