Narayanamma does not have to depend on anyone!

Dear Trevor,

Sixty year old, Narayanamma, is an old widow, hailing from the village of Vetlapalem, in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She lives with her youngest daughter and her family. Ever since her husband’s untimely death a few years ago, Narayanamma went into depression and would not even step out of the house.

Earlier, she used to work as an agriculture laborer along with her late husband. She is not too happy about staying with her daughter as she thinks she is being a burden on them. To add to her woes, her eye-sight had started diminishing since the last six months and she was not able to see clearly, making her more dependent on others even for her personal chores. Until then, she was able to manage her own chores and would also help her daughter with the household chores.

In the village eye-camp organized by Sankurathri Foundation, Narayanamma decided to get her eyes examined and it was found that she needed corrective glasses to be able to see clearly. With no income or savings, she confessed not having enough money to buy glasses. Seeing her poor economic condition, Sankurathri Foundation provided her a pair of glasses.

Your generous donation, Trevor, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to bear the cost of her glasses. Thanks to that, she can now see clearly and is very grateful to you for your support.

Thank you, Trevor, for helping Narayanamma, thereby restore her self confidence.
