gave 20 for a pair of glasses |
posted April 4, 2011
Dear Vijendher,
Seventy year old Venkata Ratnam is an old widow, hailing from V.K.Rayapuram village and lives with her youngest son. She also has five other grown up children including three daughters and two sons, all of whom are married and settled in their professions.
Venkata Ratnam lives with her youngest son who works as an agricultural laborer. To support herself, Venkata Ratnam also works as a casual laborer and earns some money. Up to last year, she was able to manage her own chores at home and also help her daughter-in-law with domestic work. But slowly her vision started diminishing and since the last one year, she started finding it difficult to manage at home. She couldn’t work anymore to support her son’s income and was very upset about her condition.
When she heard about the eye camp organized by Sankurathri Foundation, she attended the eye screening camp and after a thorough eye examination it was found that she needed corrective glasses, to see well. Venkata Ratnam was already operated for Cataract before but she needed glasses to see better. When she was told about the cost of glasses, she confessed not having enough money as she was not an earning member anymore. Based on her economic background, she was provided a pair of glasses by Sankurathri Foundation.
Your generous donation, Vijendher, enabled Sankurathri Foundation to provide Venkata Ratnam a pair of glasses with which she can see much better now.
Thank you, Vijendher, for this kind gesture!
