Yellayamma can be independent again

Seventy year old Morukurthi Yellayamma lives in the village of Vakalapudi in coastal Andhra Pradesh. She was widowed five years ago. She has two daughters who are married and living with their families. Yellayamma lives independently as she does not want to be a burden on her children. She owns two buffaloes purchased through a bank loan. She sells the buffalo milk and sustains herself.

During an eye examination, it was discovered that Yellayamma needed spectacles. She could not afford new spectacles and, at the same time, she did not want to ask her children.
